In line with the emphasis on research, there are several projects-in-progress that involve engaging other performing mediums, art forms and collaboration with other artists. This is underscored by a need to extend the scope of movements and dance beyond the theatre set-up, searching for alternative ways and formats to make and present works.It is, however, not my intention to deviate from movement-based works; rather, my works will remain faithful to it. Yet I believe that in bringing myself into dialogue with other art forms, expressions and medium, extra dimensions or layers will be imbued in my works. The approach is not a product-oriented one and is not set within a time frame: the aim is to stimulate and to enrich my own practice by creating a dialectical space where dance and different art forms, expressions and medium can meet and share common grounds. In doing this, I hope to broaden the perception of movements and dance, and bring about the awareness of the universality and inclusivity of dance. It is my belief that this interaction will not only enrich my own experience as a movement artist/performer, but also for the public.Dialogues and proposals with artists of different disciplines are underway: Loo Zihan (film maker), Steffen Baermann (VJ and video artist) and Kuo Jinghong (theatre maker).I will keep you updated of any further development on these collaborative ‘dialogues’.
